This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Response Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Accounts A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
