One extended journey through Australia was terminated days after the death of an senior woman who was left behind by the vessel on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the vessel, but broke off from the party for a break. The ship departed without her and came back after some time after the personnel realised the lady was missing.

An extensive hunt located her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the tragedy, together with police and the state coroner.

Head of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and crew on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the voyage had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior mechanical issues".

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her family was "shocked and saddened that the vessel left the island after an scheduled excursion without my parent".

Through her comments, she described her mother as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a hiking club.

"Based on limited information we have been provided, it seems that there was a breakdown of care and basic judgment," she stated.

She further stated that she desired the investigation would be able to determine what "the operator should have undertaken that might have saved Mum's life".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a exceptionally warm day, and mum fell ill on the mountain ascent," she explained.

"Officials suggested her to go back, unescorted. Then the ship left, seemingly without conducting a passenger count.

"At some stage in that sequence, or not long after, she succumbed, alone."

Operator Position

In a statement, the Head affirmed that the company was "collaborating extensively with officials to aid their inquiry".

He said that the organization was "extremely apologetic that this has happened" and had extended its full support to the relatives.
